Shark week on the discovery channel does not help peoples' perceptions of sharks...but they really are scarier than they look.

Hi Alexa, people do like to sensationalize thing. Sometimes fear is a wonderful vehicle to get people’s attention. Making sharks look like menacing creatures always gets noticed. Books, movies and a whole lot of things have capitalized on this innate fear in people of huge creatures. Your post on sharks as gentle creatures is refreshingly different from the stereo types that we’re used to. Great news for swimmers! You may find other different things from stereo types on my site http://climatarians.org.
